On the Road: April 30

Last Thursday and Friday, I had the opportunity to meet with citizens along Florida’s Emerald Coast. I enjoyed a great visit with area voters at Fort Walton Beach’s Magnolia Grill and the Republican Club of Okaloosa County on Thursday.  I also had a warm welcome from Republicans in Pensacola this evening. I also had the chance to visit Crestview and made a number of new friends. On Saturday, I attended the 39th Annual Dade County Farm Bureau BBQ in Florida City.  There were hundreds of attendees and a reminder that agriculture plays a strategic role in the South Florida economy. And a shout-out to the farmers from western Palm Beach County on this year’s sweet corn crop – a projected 430 million ears of sweet corn are expected to be harvested by the end of May – making Florida the nation’s largest producer of sweet corn!  The crop was in the spotlight yesterday at the 18th Annual Sweet Corn Fiesta at the South Florida Fairgrounds.
