Watching A Community Come Together
On Saturday, I had the opportunity to attend the Fallen Heroes Memorial Festival held in Trenton at the Rodeo Arena. The day was dedicated to the memory of Gilchrist County Sheriffs Deputy Taylor Lindsey and Sergeant Noel Ramirez, killed on April 19, 2018.
This small community was hit hard by a senseless tragedy, but it has brought them closer and renewed their commitment to one another. What a deranged killer intended for evil, the people of Gilchrist County will use to do good and love one another.
It’s also a reminder that our law officers and first responders are in harm’s way every day. They make tough calls most of us will never face in a lifetime. They deserve our support. And support and encouragement is exactly what they received on Saturday: organizers report that the day was a success and $22,000 was raised to build a memorial wall for the fallen deputies.
